An 1850's French Parasol

This is another parasol that is staying 100% original under my care.  She's in near perfect condition, too.  She's French and dates from 1855-1858.  She has non-metal ribs, but I can't tell if they're baleen or rattan because the lining is in the way.  I believe baleen just by feel but I don't know for sure.  Her handle and shaft are of rosewood and her rib tips are also rosewood (or at least, painted to look like rosewood).  Her finial is horn and is absolutely complete-including the little ring!  Whoo-hoo!  My first parasol with a ring!  The metal sleeve that holds her straight when she is unfolded is brass but has been painted to appear to be rosewood to match her rosewood handle and shaft.  The cover is a royal blue silk moire and she has an attached matching fringe.  The lining is a white sheer silk, similar to today's china silk but not as slinky.  Her measurements are as follows: 13.875" length when folded, 25" when unfolded, 11.125" handle, 11" rib length, .875" rib tip length for a total rib length of 11.875".  Finial is 1.25" long and the ring is 1.375" in diameter.

Enjoy!
